Translations
Even though Beja was the last big African language to be written, Beja in the 21st century now has a large number of books. (Click on the "book" button below to see some samples.)
In the 20th century, some international books like David Copperfield, Grimm's fairy tales, Pinocchio or Gulliver's travels have been translated by scholars who cared about their language.
In the 21st century, more international books like the Bible or the Songs of David have been translated recently.
However, documents which were found in Egypt in 1909 show that at least part of the Songs of David had already been translated as early as 1500 years ago, when Christianity touched the Beja culture for the first time.
